{"id":300,"date":"2009-09-22T09:21:18","date_gmt":"2009-09-22T14:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tigoe.net\/blog\/?page_id=300"},"modified":"2009-09-22T09:21:36","modified_gmt":"2009-09-22T14:21:36","slug":"about-me","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tigoe.com\/blog\/about-me\/","title":{"rendered":"About me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi, I&#8217;m Tom Igoe.<\/p>\n<p>I teach courses and workshops in physical computing and networking at the <a href=\"http:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\">Interactive Telecommunications Program<\/a> in the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsoa.nyu.edu\"> Tisch School of the Arts<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyu.edu\">NYU<\/a>, exploring ways to allow digital technologies to sense and respond to a wider range of human physical expression. Coming from a background in theatre, my past work has centered on physical interaction related to live performance and public space. I&#8217;m also researching ecologically sustainable practices in technology development and how open hardware development can contribute to that.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve written two books on physical computing: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/159200346X\/physicalcompu-20\/002-1410032-7298416?creative=125577&amp;camp=2321&amp;link_code=as1\"><em>Physical Computing: Sensing and Controlling the Physical World with Computers<\/em><\/a>,co-authored with Dan O&#8217;Sullivan, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0596510519\/physicalcompu-20\/002-1410032-7298416?creative=125577&amp;camp=2321&amp;link_code=as1\"><em>Making Things Talk<\/em><\/a> I&#8217;m a semi-regular contributor to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makezine.com\">MAKE<\/a> magazine on the subject as well.
