Basically, you need a jailbroken phone to do anything. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That said, his notes are useful for anyone who&#8217;s really really got to get at the serial port.<\/p>\n<p>Other ways of getting sensors into the iPhone include Tellart&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/nadamobile\/\">NADAMobile<\/a>, which uses the microphone input as an analog input,  and Brian Jepson&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jepstone.net\/blog\/2009\/11\/01\/sample-iphone-wi-fi-to-arduino-ethernet-app\/\">PhoneGap solution<\/a>, which uses ethernet and an ethernet shield.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>hc gilje posted some useful notes on accessing the serial ports of an iPhone.
